Dichrofield — Commissioned by Lionel Jadot
It’s from the offset proposal of interior architect Lionel Jadot and his unconventional vision of how should look like a restaurant that we started to design our device for the new Jam Hotel’s restaurant.
The evolutive installation DichroField stages an imaginary nature transformed and hybridized by the visual world of robotics.
In this fictitious meeting, vegetal shapes made out of dichroic filter are unfolded inside a 6 meters long glass volume and progressively moving.
The kinetism of the device activated by a series of digital motors performs dichroic reflects to create a futurist scenery inspired by science-fiction’s aesthetic. Triggered by a software sequence, binary rhythms taken from machine tool are alternated with random oscillations so as to evoke the natural bending movement of plants.
While connecting the mechanical logic to the organic dynamics, the artwork operates as an autonomous system and invites us to contemplation.
